Thank you for coming to the fundraiser on Thursday night or making a donation online. It was incredible to see such an outpouring of support for the people of Haiti. Ten days after the earthquake, 783 of you attended the event and together we raised $38,386 (donations are still coming in) for Partners In Health, who are on the ground providing emergency relief around the clock.

It was impressive to see so many people come together in such a short amount of time. There is still much that remains to be done in Haiti and in our own community. Stay tuned for future events, and please encourage friends and family to donate to Partners In Health in the link below.

About Partners in Health

Partners in Health is a health care organization that has been working on the ground in Haiti for over twenty years, co-founded by Dr. Paul Farmer. With the destruction of so much of Haiti's already inadequate medical infrastructure, "Partners in Health probably just became the largest health care provider still standing in all Haiti," author Tracy Kidder wrote last week in the New York Times.

PIH's nine hospitals, staffed with more than 100 doctors and 500 nurses, are all miles from the quake's epicenter and escaped major damage. The organization is working to set up emergency operations in Port-au-Prince, but in the meantime has established a triage center at its headquarters in Cange to deal with a stream of earthquake victims, patients with broken bones, deep cuts and even limbs severed by falling debris, said PIH spokeswoman Meredith Eves. They urgently need funds to replace rapidly diminishing stores of medicines and other supplies.

In order to immediately help those affected by the earthquake, please join us this Thursday, January 21st at 7:30pm so Partners In Health can send more doctors, continue to equip their medical facilities and rescue and save more lives in Haiti.

We strongly encourage you to bring friends and co-workers. If you are interested in being a co-host, please email rsvp@unitedforhaiti.net
